Video: What is a… Punch Cup Filler?
We posted a picture to our Facebook page and asked users to guess what this item was. We heard a lot of different answers – from a bud vase to a fancy bee catcher. But no one guessed correctly! So here it is, a Punch Cup Filler. This crystal glass was made by Waterford and its sole purpose was to fill punch cups. This was invented so you had an accurate measurement each time someone filled a cup. Ladles are not always accurate, whereas this object allows you to see how much punch is inside the filler. You can stay very accurate using this method.

Carved by Augustus Gottlieb Fogle, a well documented Salem, NC resident, probably between 1850 and 1875. This fine bird has remained in the same family locally since it was carved. Description: This is a hand-written, hand-signed personal letter from Confederate General Fitzhugh Lee to Confederate General Jubal A. Early. In the letter, Lee invites Early to his wedding, which took place on April 19th, 1871. He jokes with Early in numerous occasions and even refers to having horses killed, which happened three times to Lee during the battles at Shenandoah Valley. The letter is in overall good condition. There are a two holes in the paper on the left front side. There is a tiny piece of clear tape that was put in the upper left front corner.
